Last Monday, Apple introduced iOS 14 at the WWDC 2020 conference and introduced new features. Although innovations are radical within the brand, many features were previously presented to users on the Android side. After all, iOS 14 seems to be the most liberal version, in terms of customization. Here are the highlights of iOS 14.
Good news for 6S and SE (2016) users
It was thought that the new iOS version will be released for iPhone 7 and above devices. Because earlier versions were always available for models up to 4 years old. iOS 13 did not support iPhone 6 and older models. Therefore, iPhone 6S and iPhone SE owners were waiting about the bad news, but it was not turned out as expected. It was announced that iOS 14 will support all these models as well. Here are the Apple products supported by the new iOS version;
|iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max||iPhone SE (2020)|
|iPhone XS and XS Max||iPhone SE (2016)|
|iPhone XR||12.9-inch iPad Pro|
|iPhone X||11-inch iPad Pro|
|iPhone 8||10.5-inch – 9.7-inch iPad Pro|
|iPhone 8 Plus||iPad (6th gen)|
|iPhone 7||iPad (5th gen)|
|iPhone 7 Plus||iPad Mini 4|
|iPhone 6S||iPad Air (3rd gen)|
|iPhone 6S Plus||iPad Air 2|
Handy shortcuts era with Back Tap
Back Tap feature is one of the most important innovations offered by iOS 14. You will now be able to perform some functions when you touch the back of the phone. For this, Apple has put two options for users; double or triple tap. You will now be able to take screenshots, switch to the home screen, scroll, etc. by touching the back of the phone. Shortcuts can be customized according to your preference.
The Back Tap feature adds value to the brand in terms of usability and is one of the exciting features.
New home screen with adjustable widgets
For many years, the criticism against Apple was that iOS is not offering customization options like Android. The first step was taken with iOS 14, and widgets can be used on the homepage with the option to change their sizes. In this way, we can say that iOS 14 users may have a new home screen. While this innovation doesn’t mean much for Android users, it’s revolutionary for iPhone users.
Video can be watched on the split-screen
Another of the innovations offered by Apple is that you can open another application on the back while watching videos on a split-screen.
