The latest 5G Network technology status in the world


Uk mobile carrier EE announced that they will open the 5G network switch on the 30th of May. In the first phase, the company will focus on six cities, London, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Belfast, Birmingham and Manchester and they are planning to extend it to 19 cities at the end of the year. The targeted and promised download speed by EE is 156mbps.

5G Network In The World


United States of America

In the US, generally, carriers are in the testing process for the 5G network. Some carriers are giving 5G services to a limited group or city and trying to develop the infrastructure and experience. By the second half of 2019, 5th generation wireless technology will start to spread faster.

  • Verizon: Fixed and mobile 5G is live in few areas

  • AT&T: Mobile 5G for selected customers in 19 cities; wider coverage in late 2019

  • T-Mobile: Commercial 5G launch in the second half of 2019; nationwide coverage expected in 2020

  • Sprint: Deploying 5G to four markets on May 31

  • U.S. Cellular: 5G services coming in the second half of 2019

  • C Spire: Fixed 5G services in Mississippi

  • Charter: Testing 5G, but no solid rollout plans

  • Starry: Fixed 5G currently in Boston, Denver, LA, New York City, and Washington DC


South Korea

In South Korea, starting from April of 2019, end customers started to experience 5G technology but like in the USA, a restricted number of people are reaching this service now.


Experts in the country expect that 30% of South Korea will reach a 5G connection by 2020 and in 2026 90% of the country will have the 5G network.


There are three telecom companies that bring 5G technology to the country; SK Telecom, KT, LG Plus.


China

One of the world’s most crowded country is being expected to be the world’s most crowded 5G market. Telecom industry opinion leaders think that by 2025 China will reach 450 million 5G users.


The world’s 4th biggest operator China Unicom which is owned by the government is working on 5G technology. Mainly they are doing some testing in cities and also there are over 100 5G base stations in cities like Beijing, Tianjin, Qingdao, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Wuhan, Guiyang…


United Arab Emirates

In UAE, Etisalat UAE will offer 5G services to their customers. Etisalat has made some agreements with Huawei and Ericsson about 5G technologies. They are waiting for the 5G compatible devices to open the network entirely. Also, their competitor du, is working with Nokia and Huawei.


5G Network In Turkey

In the first half of 2019, the testing part is almost completed in Turkey by three operators, Turkcell, Vodafone, and TT Mobile. Turkey’s main goal in the telecom market is to be one of the first countries who use 5G technology in the world. But there is no exact date for release date for the 5G network.
